30th January
Day 6. Jessica and Maisie disappeared to the beach for a few hours today with Mummy. Our first escape from the house all week. It was much needed!

28th January
Day 4. There have been several more positive test results in Oliver’s class. We’ve had to tweak the homeschooling arrangements today, as the girls weren’t able to participate properly in their online lessons downstairs. Trying to educate a year 4 child, a year 2 child, and another year 2 child with SEN, while keeping all away from an overworked Daddy is not ideal. Hot chocolate and chai lattes helped.
27th January
Day 3. Tricky day today but we still managed schoolwork, but there was a lot of wishful thinking and looking out of windows.

25th January
Oliver is now self isolating (positive case in his class) so that has made today very tricky. Homeschooling three children, all at different abilities, is very tricky. We survived.

24th January
An icy walk where we discovered very thick ice like glass. Bedtime sillies too with funny hair, and hide and seek!

22nd January
A very early wake up call this morning meant that we were all very tired today (20 standing up hours out of a possible 24 shows how early). The mood lifted significantly when we received two emails from school to say that each girl had received the Remote Learner of the week award (one per class). We were so thrilled! They’ve worked so hard, so these were thoroughly well deserved.

21st January
Completely normal behaviour to walk around with a washing basket on your head in our home!
20th January
We don’t often watch television during the day, but we’ve all watched the inauguration today!

18th January
Two very excited girls today after homeschooling. They took our friend’s two dogs for a long walk! Now they want to do it every day and they want dogs.

16th January
Maisie lost her first top tooth. It’s been wobbly for a while! Lots of playing at home and giggling together today.

15th January
Blood donation number 21 this morning for Mummy. It was nice to get out of the house and see other people (legally!)! Maisie won star of the week at school and then she made chocolate chip cookies with Rainbows!
14th January
Lovely long freezing (-2) walk today. Jessica enjoying walking on ice and breaking the thinner ice! Finished off watching a slightly different view of the Metro.

11th January
We are so very proud of Jessica and Maisie. They have full days with school work and online lessons. They have found it difficult to adapt, and miss seeing anyone, including their friends, but they have been absolutely amazing. They do get a lunch break and make the most of it with roller skates and other random activities! Oliver came home from school and helped make dinner.

8th January
We enjoyed making footprints in the (light covering!) snow today, Oliver arrived home ‘Star of the Week’ and Maisie made herself out of jelly beans for Rainbows!

6th January
Schools are now closed, but Oliver is able to return today as it’s a specialist school. He was very excited! Meanwhile, the girls enjoyed using their new umbrellas on a legal walk to school to collect their reading supplies!
4th January
What a day! Schools are unexpectedly closed while they prepare for reopening. This didn’t go down well with Oliver, he’d been counting down the days! Only way forward was a Metro trip and then getting off a stop early to walk home via the park. Smiles all round!

3rd January
Happy Birthday Daddy! Breakfast made by the girls (was meant to be breakfast in bed but Daddy came downstairs too soon!), cakes made by Oliver and talking to visitors at the front door!
2nd January
A long cold walk today while Daddy watched football! We did pop to our local bakery on the way home so that provided some motivation!
1st January 2021!
Happy New Year!

Writing up our 2021 calendars followed by ‘Games Night by Zoom’ with friends tonight to celebrate the start of 2021. It was too late for Oliver to stay up but the girls loved it!
30th December
A brief moment of cleaning and rearranging furniture while children enjoyed sand play and iPads!
